Course description

Learn Spanish while you visit the Pacific of Costa Rica. Experience for 2 weeks the beauties of Costa Rica’s south and central Pacific while you learn Spanish. Travel the country as you learn its language, this is the best way to put into practice what you learn with a real immersion program.

Day 1: Arrival to SJO International Airport. Your San José host family will meet you there and transfer you to their home nearby. There you can recover from the long journey. Room and meals Included.

Day 2: Your host family will take you to the bus station to take the bus to San Isidro, located in the South Pacific of Costa Rica. Upon arrival, your new host family in San Isidro will pick you up at the bus station and take you to their home. Room and meals Included.

Day 3 to 6: These days you will be able to participate in different interactive activities while learning Spanish at Diversity School. Visit the local farmer’s market and enjoy delicious traditional recipes in cooking lessons. You may want to use your knowledge to practice with local people.

San Isidro del General is located on a wide valley in the peaceful mountains of Costa Rica’s Southern Zone. This small city is bursting with local culture, moderate temperatures, beautiful landscapes, and convenience to shops and services just an hour from the beach and near from Costa Rica’s tallest mountain, Cerro Chirripó. Room and meals included.

Day 7: Today after finishing your class, your host family will take you to the bus station in the afternoon to take the bus to Quepos/Manuel Antonio to spend the weekend there. This area is popular for having this beautiful national park with white sand beaches backed by an evergreen forest that grows right up to the high tide line. There is also a lot of things to enjoy like going whitewater rafting, horseback riding, canopy tours, shopping, restaurants and many more. A must visit in your trip to Costa Rica. Room and breakfast included.

Day 8: Morning pick up to go on an exciting canopy/zip lining tour. This canopy has 12 platforms, 10 cables. The longest of them is 550 meters in length through a valley with a beautiful ocean and a waterfall view. Fly over 80 meters high above the tree tops generating pure adrenaline! It has a tarzan swing, and a suspension bridge 70 meters high where you jump to the waterfall and make a splash by touching the water. There are 2 waterfalls where you will have the opportunity to refresh yourself, have a good time and enjoy the crystal clear waters. Before going back to your hotel, enjoy a delicious lunch.

In the afternoon, enjoy a surfing lesson in Manuel Antonio beach. You start with the basics, learning how to enter the water, how to paddle the board effectively, read the waves, pop up to your feet, and ride the wave to the beach. Surfing is somewhat a physical sport, and we also cover important aspects such as proper warm-up, stretching, and even learning to breathe and stay calm while taking on the ocean. Day 9: Morning pick up for a shared Manuel Antonio National Park hike. Get ready to hike and enjoy the beautiful habitats of this national park; you will find primary forest, secondary forest, mangrove swamps, lagoons and beach vegetation. There is quite a varied fauna with 109 species of mammals and 184 of birds. The park includes 12 little isles just off the coast; these often visited by a number of dolphins. . You will stop by the beach to take a snack, rest and swim, before heading back.

In the afternoon you will take the public bus back to San Isidro, to continue the next days with your Spanish program. Upon arrival, your family host will pick you up and take you to their home. Room and meals included.

Day 10 to 13: These days you will continue to participate in different activities involved in your Spanish program at Diversity School. Participate in Yoga classes, karaoke time, dancing lessons and many more. Definitely the Latin flavor Costa Rican people are full of, and you will get to live it! Room and meals included.

Day 14: Today after your class, you will be taken to the bus station to go back to San José. Upon arrival, your host family will pick you up and take you to their home for your last night in the country. Room and meals Included.

Day 15: Transfer will be provided to SJO International Airport. You need to be there 3 hours before your flight time.

What to Bring

Casual clothing like: sweater, loose shirts, pants, jeans, shorts, hat or cap and bathing suit.

We also recommend: Sunscreen, sunglasses, hiking shoes, small backpack to carry on tours and activities, water bottle, flashlight, bug spray, raincoat, camera and binoculars.

  • Since the Spanish classes are from Monday to Friday, it is highly recommended to schedule the arrival to the country on a Saturday to start the itinerary.
  • Reservations for people over 18 years-old.
  • During Costa Rican National Holidays, classes are not imparted.
  • We offer accommodation options at budget, mid-range and upscale hotels, we’ll be glad to quote your preference.
  • Local flights and transfers allow a maximum luggage weight of 25 pounds (12kg).
